Maybe, depends on how many 1st's they're offering

    2023 General Draft Thoughts

Perfect timing if this is the year that Calais retires... Other things I've noticed => * There are an insane number of projected slot-only WR, may help devalue them a bit * QB class looks a lot healthier this year, should help push some guys at other positions down * OT looks very thin at the...

Ha yeah, agreed long term, but I'd consider a few games rental around playoff time. Tbh if we get Houston (and our injuries pan out) then imo we're in good shape and should leave the $2M and and change cap space left over in EDC's pocket in case an area gets severely depleted/underperforms. I...

If we do pick up a WR I reckon it'll be Odell late in the season for a playoff run where we only have to pay for part of the season. Seems unlikely though...

Thanks for the sanity check, that matches my understanding. Good to hear I haven't missed some magic loophole!

I'm seeing a huge wave of people talking about how the salary cap is fake/can be easily bypassed/is no longer a limiting factor, but every cap manipulation strategy I've looked into has effectively just been a way to push the cap hit into a future year's cap space, not evade it. Am I missing...

When did he say that? The closest I can remember is him throwing shade at people that called him a RB during the draft and that he wants to counter that by showing that he can throw as well as run. As far as I can tell the guy loves to run and is crazy good at it

I'm not sold that Lamar doesn't like Roman's system, it's built to cater specifically to his strengths and I'm sure he knows that. If Lamar really hated it then Greg would already be gone, no question. The only room that hate it are WRs (and damn they can be such divas), which makes sense as...

Well yeah, I agree. He was a good receiver in college, not questioning that. The only point I'm making is that you can't necessarily judge a TE's blocking ability in the NFL based on what they did in college.

It's health really, that's the gigantic question mark. If we're fully healthy then imo we should be dominant/right near the top of the AFC (14-3).

Worth noting that almost all TE's are bad at blocking in college because that's not what they're asked to do. I think the most we can say there is that Kolar is a developmental prospect as a blocking TE. Give him a year of training with Boyle and who knows how he might grow.

I'm really hoping that's because he was being asked to play out of position. This is a not too long ago all pro CB that has only just turned 30. An unknown, but I'm betting he's good enough to comfortably be CB3 on our roster

Tbf I'm not sure how much cap space we have atm and I'm not entirely against another WR if we can afford it. If we can pay our rookies, sign Houston and sign a decent CB and also then get another WR (in that order) without mortgaging our future then I'm all for it.

    The 2022 Offseason Thread

I think I just straight up disagree that Chris Moore is a viable WR2 (or anything really beyond depth/special teams) or that Boykin > Duvernay/Proche. But, for me, the main point is that WR is a relatively low impact position on our offense. If the young WRs pan out then great, if not then it's...

    The 2022 Offseason Thread

We had a singular off game, it happens. I don't see why any strategy should be dominant (14-2) in the regular season and then fall flat in the playoffs. A games a game, both teams always want to win, either it works or it doesn't. I'm not saying absolutely no to a vet, but I'd take our WR room...

    The 2022 Offseason Thread

Then I guess we'll do without. Based on the current roster it feels like we are leaning towards our dominant 2019 offense, except with better WR, RB, QB and maybe even TE, OL rooms (assuming health). What's not to love? We could add a WR, but I'd rather run with the cheap, promising rookies in...

    Welcome to Baltimore: Jalyn Armour-Davis

Awesome pick! I've seen people suggest he's more of an outside corner. Might need a little seasoning due to lack of play time at Alabama, but could absolutely see him taking over Averett's role as primary outside corner backup from year 2 onwards (and maybe sooner!).

I mostly agree with you. But, every year there is a position or two where we are so stacked that it makes no sense to spend a 1st/2nd. Say for example a QB was the most highly rated player at 14 (as unlikely as that is this year) and we weren't able to find a trade down partner, in your model...
