Mosley did a lot of great in coverage but he also got victimized fairly often, some was scheme, some was surrounding players, some directly on him. His bumps and knock downs and disruptions were so damn savvy and smart and helpful, but at the same time he would blitz often and he never got any pressure and his vacated space was often where the completion happened, it was a trend, along with him being a yard shy of where he needed to be when the ball arrived.
Mosley is great, but he isn’t perfect. His best year was his rookie year where he played light and he had substantially more range and explosion but was still big enough to hold up, it’s no coincidence that he packed on a good 20 some lbs over the next 2 years and he seemed to progressively get slower in coverage.
honestly the biggest issue with Mosley was that we needed him to be both the mike and will too often, he’s a classic LB with enough iq to be good in coverage and sometimes downright great, but also lacked range big time, but we put him in a position to be exposed in coverage too often.
